Groma · Simon G.

Simon G. proposes a company's everyday decisions; a named person approves them.

It runs on your own infrastructure, and sending data outside stays the exception that needs a signature.

01 Three ways in

Three ways in, one discipline.

You can start anywhere: with the written method, a browser tool, or the platform installed at your company.

The method

Seven published rules, free, under a Creative Commons licence. You can use them without any software.

The free tools

They run in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer.

The platform

It installs on the company's servers and runs the same calculation every night, with approval from a named person.

02 Free tools

Four tools to start with.

Each one runs in your browser. The file is never uploaded anywhere.

03 Method

Seven rules for decisions that machines propose.

The Simon G. Method is published by Groma under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, and it is free.

  1. 1

Every class of decision has a named owner

List the decisions that matter: a dozen or two, not hundreds. Put one person’s name beside each. A committee is not a name.

  2. 2

Every freedom given to a machine has a signed limit

For each class, write what the machine may do alone and where it must stop and ask. The limit is a number or a condition, signed by the owner, with a review date.

  3. 3

    Every proposal carries its evidence

A proposal states what is true now, what is proposed, the reasoning, the expected effect in money, and which inputs were missing. A proposal that cannot show its reasoning is not approved.

Missing information is stated as missing. It is never replaced silently with a zero or a default.

  4. 4

    A person signs

Inside the limit, the machine may act and the record says so. Outside it, a named person approves or rejects, and gives a reason when rejecting.

  5. 5

    The record cannot be rewritten

Decisions are added to the record and never edited or deleted. A correction is a new entry that points to the old one. This holds for administrators too.

  6. 6

The effect is measured against a baseline fixed beforehand

Before a decision is applied, write down the figure it is meant to change and its current value. Afterwards, measure the same figure the same way.

A result without a baseline proves nothing, in either direction.

  7. 7

Data and models stay inside a perimeter the company controls

Decide where data may be processed and which models may see it. Local processing is the default, and sending data out is the exception that needs a signature.

04 The platform

What the platform adds beyond the free tools.

05 What Simon G. is not

Five things it does not do.

06 Who it is for

Four starting points, by your role.

CEO or owner

You want to know, at any time, who decided what and with what effect.

Start with the method: seven rules, one afternoon.

CFO

You have cash tied up in stock and receivables, and you do not know exactly how much.

Start with the Working Capital Check.

Head of supply chain

You do not know exactly what to order and what stock is excess.

Start with the Stock Check.

CIO

Teams already use AI tools, without a signed limit.

Start with the Decision Charter: the IT rows are already in the template.

08 Questions

Frequently asked questions

Where does my data go?

The free tools run in your browser; the file is never uploaded anywhere. The platform installs on your company’s own servers.

What do the free tools cost?

Nothing.

What does the platform need to start?

A few exports from your ERP, following templates we give you. It never asks for access or passwords to your systems.

How long does it take to start?

The installation takes a few minutes. What takes time is preparing the exports from your systems, and that differs from one company to another.

Does it replace the ERP?

No. It runs above it and never writes back to it.

How does it relate to AI assistants?

The engine proposes the decision; an assistant may explain the reasoning. The assistant does not decide or invent proposals.
